:: Austin Pfeiffer : associate pastor ::
Austin Pfeiffer is from Portland, Oregon. After graduating high school, he became a Christian and headed to the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he studied English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. He cherishes how his young faith was nurtured in a place where Christianity was so foreign and thus made complacency a rarity. In 2005, Austin took a college ministry internship in Winston-Salem. It was there he discovered a passion for the church and also met his wife, Erin.
Austin and Erin married in 2008, living in Boston, MA. In 2009, Erin and Austin moved back to Winston-Salem and started an intentional living community in the West Salem neighborhood. Austin was called to Salem Presbyterian in 2014. He and Erin have three children: Silas (b. 2012), Lucy (b. 2014), and Marco (b. 2016). Erin is a public health professional who manages the East Africa maternal and child health projects for Food for the Hungry. Austin has an M.A. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a Th.M. from Duke Divinity School. His academic work has focused on Christian community and the local church.
Austin coordinates our worship service, works with our small groups, and handles other community aspects of the church. He also works in the summer months at the Sower's Plot, a community garden supported by Salem Presbyterian.
