Rev. Austin Pfeiffer

Pastor of Culture & Liturgical Arts

:: Austin Pfeiffer : pastor of culture & liturgical arts ::

Austin Pfeiffer is from Portland, Oregon and was called to Salem Presbyterian in 2014. Austin is head of staff at Salem Pres and his work revolves around creating community and institutional leadership. This includes overseeing music, liturgy, leadership development, small groups, and finances.

After graduating high school, he became a Christian and headed to the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he studied English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. He cherishes how his young faith was nurtured in a place where Christianity was so novel and thus made complacency a rarity. In 2005, Austin took a college ministry internship in Winston-Salem. It was there he discovered a passion for the church and also met his wife, Erin. Austin and Erin married in 2008, living in Boston, MA. They have four children: Silas (b. 2012), Lucy (b. 2014), Marco (b. 2016), and Blaise (b. 2018). Erin is a global health professional working in maternal and child health.

Austin holds an M.A. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a Th.M. from Duke Divinity School. Erin & Austin also co-own a local hang-out called West Salem Public House and serve together on the steering committee for the Forum on Faith & Culture. Austin writes original folk and congregational music in the folk duo The Pharaoh Sisters.
